Knifemaker training (freehand grinding)

For knife makers that want to focus on their freehand grinding techniques and get a crash course in knife geometry. This is a one on one course in which we will grind up to three heat treated blades using a variety of techniques (hollow, flat and false edge grinding). Aimed at current knifemakers who are looking to improve their confidence behind a grinder or to focus on some areas they are having issues with. we can either go through basic grinding or we can go through advanced stuff like compound grinds depending what you want to learn and get out of the lesson.

this is a half day course and needs to be scheduled before booking

For the begginer we will cover
- Basic belt grinder operation and safety
- Abrasives and how to maximize useful life and time
- Grinding posture
- grinding techniques
- How to save yourself from stuff ups
- Hacks to decrease the time on the grinder

for those who wish to learn some more advanced skills we can also go through

- False edge grinding
- Compound grinding
- Grinding swooping plunges
- Fuller grinding
- advanced hollow grinding techniques
